Research Hub

Our Research Hub leverages commercialisation opportunities associated with the R&D expertise of Ara staff and students.

Research Hub is able to facilitate the development of practical abilities of students through work-integrated learning. This often involves degree and diploma students undertaking industry projects or internships as part of their course requirements.

Research Hub helps to facilitate these opportunities by finding industry partners with research or project needs and pairing them with suitable students who can undertake this work. This utilises student talent and staff expertise to provide an R&D service to industry – a service strengthened by Ara’s status as an IRD Approved Research Provider (which unlocks the R&D tax incentive for industry).

Our Research Office leads the Research Hub in collaboration with Te Ōhaka - Ara’s centre for innovation. This provides a strong connection between industry, the innovation start-up ecosystem and the research and development expertise within Ara. Key areas of strength include ICT, engineering and laboratory science.
