Advanced Bush Walking

To enable students to acquire the theoretical and practical skills to be an independent member of a peer bush walking group in untracked bush and above bush line environments and develop instructor skills for groups to instruct and lead multi-day bush walking trips in easy and moderate bush terrain.

Description

The learning outcomes for this course are:

Demonstrate and analyse technical competency, judgement and knowledge in bush walking skills. 

Apply knowledge to assess conditions and apply strategies to ensure care for self, others and environments and be able to respond to emergency situations. 

Operate within established industry good practices and apply interpretive place responsive practices in the learning environment.

Apply and explain leadership and instructional skills and knowledge to bush walking.
