The Steve O’Neill Scholarship is provided by Fulton Hogan to honour the legacy of Steve O’Neill, a respected and treasured colleague of Fulton Hogan for many years. It covers the full domestic fees for a domestic or international student who successfully completes the Diploma in Cybersecurity at Ara. It may also include the offer of casual employment with Fulton Hogan during the scholarship recipient’s studies.
Eligibility
To be eligible to apply for one of these scholarships you must:
- A domestic or international* student currently studying the Diploma of Cybersecurity (Level 6) full time
- Personable and enthusiastic about cybersecurity
- Able to demonstrate how you’ve overcome personal or academic obstacles, showing resilience and perseverance to get to where you are
*If you’re an international student applicant and you’re chosen as the scholarship recipient, you’ll receive payment equivalent to the domestic fees for this qualification.
How to Apply

Then to apply you need to:
- Submit and online application form
- Provide a personal statement up to 500 words, outlining the special circumstances that make you a candidate for this scholarship
- Use the supplied templates to provide two referee reports; a character reference and a tutor reference
- Supply your most recent academic transcript which you can obtain from academic.records@ara.ac.nz
- Provide a one-page CV

Please note
Applicants will be required to attend an interview with the Fulton Hogan team. The successful applicant will be required to pass their Diploma in Cybersecurity (Level 6) before they receive payment.
